With everyone in suspense on where she might go, Italy’s Kortnei Johnson selected LSU over University of Houston and Kansas State and will continue her track career as a Lady Tiger at the D1 level. Not bad for an athlete from a small school without a track.
On Friday, November 14 we will honor Kortnei Johnson as she signs her letter of commitment to run track at the collegiate level. We will have a short signing ceremony at 3:10 pm in the Dome followed by cake to honor Kortnei.

Kortnei’s Car Wash will be Saturday, July 27, to raise money for travel and lodging expenses for Italy High School’s, Kortnei Johnson (jr.) who is hoping to compete in the Junior Olympics, August 1, in Detroit.

Kortnei Johnson continued receiving accolades for her track and field accomplishments at the meeting of the Ellis County Commissioners Court Tuesday afternoon.
On Saturday, May 18th, 2013, Italy school and city leaders have planned a downtown Italy parade to honor state record breaking track sprinter, Kortnei Johnson along with state qualifying runners, Halee Turner, Ryisha Copeland and Kendra Copeland. Parade time is 10:00am. Also included in the parade will be a send off for the Gladiator Baseball team as they head out to battle Trenton in game two of a best of three series for the regional quarter-final title. The entire community is welcome to come and hail these outstanding young athletes.

Kortnei Johnson, a sophomore at Italy High School, becomes a gold medalist in the 100m dash at the 2013 Texas Relays in Austin with a time of 11.82.
Jameka Copeland, Jimesha Reed and Kortnei Johnson represent Italy High School during the regional track meet held at Tarleton State University with Johnson advancing to the state meet in Austin.
Italy freshman, Kortnei Johnson, qualified for the 85th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays (High Schools) as a 7th Grader back in 2010 and traveled to Austin on Friday to test her speed against the state’s top sprinters.
