Twenty years ago the Italy Gladiator basketball team won state. Their legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of each of the athletes, coaches and Italy Gladiator fans. This year the Gladiators wanted to repeat what the 1997 team had done and worked hard to achieve that goal.

Italy High School senior pitcher Ty Windham commits to Cisco College as he realizes a long sought after dream. Windham has been in the pitching rotation for the past three seasons as a varsity member of the Italy Gladiators baseball team.

The Italy Gladiator JV Baseball team will take on Avalon today, Thursday, March 24, starting at 2:30 p.m. in Avalon. A game between the Gladiator and Eagle Varsity squads will immediately follow the JV game.
The Italy Baseball team will travel to Blooming Grove for their annual Invitational Tournament. Game one for the Gladiators will be at 10am on Thursday, March 3. They will be up against Bosqueville. Make the trip to BG and support our Gladiators.
The Italy vs. Kerens Varsity Boys baseball game that was scheduled to be played Friday has been moved to Thursday, February 25, at 4:30 p.m. in Kerens so that it will not conflict with the playoff Basketball game. JV Boys will follow right after.

The Italy Gladiator Baseball team will be hosting their annual Chili Supper fundraiser on Friday, January 15, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. before the Gladiator Basketball team takes on the Frost Polar Bears at the Dome.
Our Italy Gladiators will have to wait another day to take on Mart in the bi-district contest. Game is re-scheduled for noon on Saturday, May 9th at Waco Connally. If Connally’s field is unplayable then game will be moved to Franklin at 2pm.

Italy Baseball is off to a good start in district after a shutout win over Faith Family Academy, 14-0. Junior pitcher Ty Windham recorded 13 strikeouts thru five-innings in what was a dominant performance by the Gladiators.

The IHS Baseball team, coaches, and parents would like to thank everyone who helped make the 2014 chili supper fundraiser a success. Thirteen Gladiator Baseball teammates proudly have their names listed on the 2014 All-District list of honors for the 14A baseball district. Due to the weather, Italy/Lindsay playoff game scheduled tonight will move to the turf field at Prosper High School. The Timber Creek High School field will be ready for game two on Friday.

Italy Gladiator Baseball will be hosting a 1A Region II District 14 playoff game tonight, Monday April 28, starting at 6:00 p.m., for 3rd place between Frost and Itasca. Tuesday, April 29, Italy will be playing a warm up game against Kerens at 5:00 p.m. here in Italy at Davidson Field.
Congratulations to Italy Gladiator Baseball on their perfect district mark of 10-0 to be the undisputed 2014 Class A district champions! Italy accomplished the feat after beating Frost 12-4 in what was the final home game at Loyd Davidson Field for Italy’s five seniors, including: Tyler Anderson, Kevin Roldan, Bailey Walton, Zain Byers and Eric Carson.
The Gladiators improve to 9-0 in district with 9-1 win over Itasca. Tonight, Italy’s five seniors of Tyler Anderson, Zain Byers, Eric Carson and Kevin Roldan and Bailey Walton to be honored at Loyd Davidson Field starting at 6:20 p.m. Italy, already the district champs, are trying for the perfect undefeated 10-0 mark in district play.
A field loaded with talent from both Italy and Milford entertains fans from both towns with the Gladiators and Bulldogs battling to decide their district fates. With the dust settling and the sun about to set, it was Italy standing on top the district mountain with two games remaining.
The Gladiators shutout Avalon and Frost defeats Milford to put Italy in a solid position to claim the district title and control their playoff seeding. Three district games remain.

The Italy Gladiators made fairly quick work of the visiting Grand Prairie Advantage Academy Eagles on Friday after winning via the run rule, 12-2 in the top of the fifth-inning. Junior Kyle Fortenberry put the exclamation point on the win with a 2 run inside-the-park homerun.
The Italy Gladiator hitmen flirted with putting one over the fence all game in Frost but it was finally accomplished when John Byers cleared the left field fence and scored a field goal thru the uprights of the Polar Bears’ goal post on their football field.
The Gladiators post their second shutout of district play with a 10-0 win over the visiting Itasca Wampus Cats, improving to 4-0 in district play. Pitcher Ty Windham goes the distance recording 9 strikeouts and John Byers records a 3 run inside-the-park homerun.
The JV Gladiators batted their way back into the game and then a walk off hit by Pedro Salazar clenched an 8-7 comeback win for Italy in front of their hometown fans.
The Milford Bulldogs led by pitcher Eric Evans tested the Gladiators on Tuesday with Evans locked in a bit of a pitcher’s duel against Italy senior Tyler Anderson. In the end, the Gladiators made a late rally to win 4-3 and improve to 3-0 in district play.

Friday night, April 4th, there will be big goings-on at the Italy High School Baseball and Softball fields! Besides our Gladiators and Lady Gladiators taking on rival Itasca on the sacred red sand, our IYAA will be honored during the pre-game introductions. Also, during the night, in a joint effort between the baseball and softball teams, there will be a drive-thru hamburger stand available—YUM!
