The Co-District Champion Gladiators will follow starting at 6:30 p.m. in a Bi-District matchup against Lovelady. 1 Night + 1 entry fee = 2 GAMES!!
The Italy Gladiator Boys Basketball team will compete for an Playoff seeding on Friday, February 17 in Corsicana at the Navarro College campus. Italy will play the winner out of LaPoynor and Kerens starting at 6:00 p.m. All three teams finished in a way three-way tie for district champions after posting identical 10-2 district records.

This evening the Gladiator basketball teams will host Cayuga High School at The Dome. I have asked the administration team to help enforce some common expectations during the game.

The Mavs Maniaacs, featuring Italy’s own, Shedric Walker (A Maniaac since 2013), are set to perform live during Italy’s PACK THE DOME NIGHT on Friday, January 6, 2017. Italy will be playing four games against visiting Kerens while honoring Italy High School’s 1997 State Champion Boys Basketball Team.
Lady Gladiators will be playing in Thorndale for the tournament Championship tonight at 7:00 against Rogers!! We defeated highly State ranked Moulton 57-55 earlier today!! Go Lady Gladiators!!!!
All games will be played inside the Italy High School Dome and are scheduled for Thursday (Pool Play), Friday and Saturday starting at 9:30 a.m. each day.
Basketball passes are now being sold at the Administration Building. The passes are good for all home Jr. High and High School, boys and girls basketball games. The tickets are good for 1 person at $50 each.
Italy Gladiator Keith Davis II was named Offensive Player of the Year, Kendrick Norwood was named Co-Defensive Player of the Year, Christian Lightfoot was named Newcomer of the Year and head coach David Ervin was named Coach of the Year in District 12-2A.
The District Champion Italy Gladiators (18-8, 7-1), guided by first-year head coach David Ervin, become the Class 2A Region 2 Bi-District Champions after defeating the Valley View Eagles, 67-56, in Crowley. Next up will be Italy vs. the Petrolia Pirates in the Area Round this Friday night in Mineral Wells starting at 7:15 p.m.
The Italy Gladiators will be taking on the Petrolia Pirates in the Area Round of the Class 2A Region 2 & 4 Basketball Playoffs Friday night, February 26, in Mineral Wells starting at 7:15 p.m. A Fan Bus will be available Friday if over 20 people signup by 4:00 p.m. Thursday, February 25….that’s Today!
The Italy Gladiators guided by first-year head coach David Ervin have dominated the competition to claim the 2016 District Championship. They ended district Monday with one final win over Itasca. The Gladiators are PLAYOFF BOUND!!!

Italy’s Keith Davis, Jr., grabbed his own rebound and then scored the put back with 8 seconds left to deliver a meaningful 66-65 district win over rival Dallas Gateway. The ensuing celebration inside the dome was intense with Italy claiming the top spot in the district race.
We have some changes to our girls and boys basketball schedule for next week:
Tonight’s basketball game between the Italy Gladiators and Dallas Gateway has been moved to the Italy High School Dome. The varsity boys will play at 7:00 pm.
The Lady Gladiators celebrated Senior Night 2K16 as they honored their seniors during their final home game against Itasca. Chardonae Talton led Italy’s JV Girls with 9-points, Anthony Lusk Led Italy’s JV Boys with 24-points, Emmy Cunningham led the Lady Gladiators with 22-points and Keth Davis, Jr. led the Gladiators with 35-points for his first 30+ game of the season.

After a 4th place finish in district this season, the Italy Gladiators had 7 players receive all-district honors with sophomore Kenneth Norwood, Jr. earning 1st Team All-District.
With the playoffs on the line, the Gladiators gave it their all as they had all season but those pesky Wampus Cats get the win over Italy to advance.
The Gladiators play hard in a loss against Dallas Gateway but have one more chance to possibly make the playoffs with a win over the Itasca Wampus Cats this coming Tuesday.
Italy Junior High basketball teams wrap up their 2015 season at home in the dome. The 8th graders took their final shots, their last dribbles and grabbed their last rebounds of their junior high careers but left behind plenty of memorable moments.
Italy Coliseum hosted one game Friday night between the Gladiators and Garland Alpha Charter with the guys in gold getting the win, 63-50, to keep their playoff hopes alive!
Italy’s JV boys handle Frost for the second time in district play while the Gladiators stay close thru three before Frost pulls away in the fourth.
Both the Italy Gladiators and their JV squad played hard until the final buzzer but neither could take down the Wampus Cats on Itasca’s home court.
Italy’s JV and Varsity Gladiators played hard but the quickness of Dallas Gateway swept two games against the guys in gold.
Both the Italy JV Gladiators and Lady Gladiators played well during their Italy hosted basketball tournament this past weekend with the JV Lady Gladiators winning the tournament championship in the girls bracket.

Italy’s Junior High Gladiators split wins with visiting Hubbard with Italy’s 8th grade team getting the win over the Jags.
Italy’s JV Gladiators survive a physical test against Frost and exit the wooden tundra with a well deserved win. This one was for “Big Money B.”
The effort was there by the Gladiators but the Frost Polar Bears found a way to get the win despite a never give up attitude on display by Italy.

The Italy Lady Gladiator basketball team has earned a spot in the 2A basketball rankings in two polls for the week of January 19, 2015. The Lady Gladiators hold the #15 spot in the TGCA poll and are also ranked #21 in the TABC poll. The Lady Gladiators are currently 20-7 for the season and are in 1st place in district 12-2A with a 2-0 record.
This Saturday, January 17, Italy will be the host of a junior high basketball tournament. Both gyms will be buzzing with basketball action with the first tipoff at 9:00am and games scheduled well into the afternoon. Check out the tournament brackets attached.
This coming weekend will be packed with basketball games for our Italy Boys JV and Varsity squads. Our JV boys will travel to Ferris High School for their 9th grade/JV Tournament and our varsity boys will travel to Avalon for their 84th annual Basketball Tournament. Brackets for both tournaments are attached.
Gladiator head basketball coach Brandon Ganske wishes to inform basketball players and parents that the program will be having a JH and HS boys basketball meeting on November 11, 2014, starting at 6:00 p.m. inside the Italy High School cafeteria.

The Italy Gladiators land 8 basketball players onto the all-district list including senior TaMarcus Sheppard who earned Defensive MVP honors and Trevon Robertson who was named to the 1st team.
A tremendous start behind a 17-point first-period from senior Trevon Robertson gave the Italy Gladiators a shot but the favored Trenton Tigers survived Robertson’s early barrage of 3-pointers to outlast Italy for the Area championship.
The Italy ISD special olympic athletes received a heroes sendoff from the entire Italy High School student body and faculty early Wednesday morning as Team Italy prepared for their basketball competition at Cedar Hill High School.
The Italy Gladiators became 2013-2014 Class A bi-disitrict basketball champions after clawing their way to a win over the Valley View Eagles behind a 17-point clutch performance by freshman guard Kevin Johnson.
The Italy Gladiators leave no doubt about who the district runner-up is after winning a tie-breaker over Itasca to determine playoff seeding.
The Italy Gladiators finished their district campaign tied for second place with rival Itasca. Both Italy and Itasca have qualified for the playoffs but will battle in a game on Friday to decide playoff seeding. The winner will enter the playoffs as the two seed and the loser goes in as a three seed.
