Guns vs Hoses Annual Softball Game with Fireworks

I hope everyone can come out and support this great program which gives back to the kids every year. We are switching it up a little this year by having some of the Italy High School playoff softball girls play with both the Police Officers and Firemen this year. This should add some excitement to the game and it gives the graduating seniors one more chance to play on their field. We encourage everyone to come out and have some fun and watch the Fireworks display after the game.

Senior adult cook-out luncheon: Central Baptist Church, Wednesday, June 24

We invite Italy senior adults to a cookout hamburger lunch at Central Baptist Church on Wednesday, June 24 at noon. Come and enjoy the fellowship of other seniors. There is no program for this luncheon, just the simple joy of good company. Stay as long as you like. You are welcome to bring a side dish or dessert, but come and eat either way. We’ll see you there!

Location Change for Relay For Life of Central Ellis County

Due to the recent rains and the rainy forecast for this Saturday, May 30th, The Relay For Life of Central Ellis County location has changed. Instead of holding the event at the Waxahachie Sports Complex, the event will be held at Robbie E. Howard Eighth Grade Center, 265 Broadhead Road in Waxahachie on May 30, 2015.

Calling All Cancer Survivors and Caregivers

The Relay For Life of Central Ellis County extends a special invitation to all cancer survivors and caregivers to attend this year’s Relay on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at the Waxahachie Sports Complex. Stagecoach Cowboy Church is planning a Horseless Rodeo on Saturday, April 18th for kids 12 & under at the Stagecoach Cowboy Church Arena. Hot dogs and fixin’s will be served beginning at 5:00pm with the Rodeo beginning at 6:00pm. Meal and Rodeo is Free!

9th annual Ennis Czech Music Festival

30th Anniversary of Relay For Life

This year marks the 30th Anniversary of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. The Relay For Life of Central Ellis County will be held on May 30, 2015 at the Waxahachie Sports Complex from 6:00 p.m. until midnight. All Ellis County residents are invited and encouraged to attend.

George Scott Scholarship fundraiser

The 22nd Annual George E. Scott Memorial Scholarship Dinner was held last Friday night before the Homecoming football game in the school cafeteria. The catered meal by Bubba’s Barbecue of Ennis featured brisket, sausage, potato salad, beans, bread and tea.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDot) will hold a public meeting regarding the proposed widening of I-35E from 2.17 miles south of FM 566 (Hill/Ellis County Line) to US 77 south of Waxahachie. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the Italy High School Cafeteria, 300 College Street, Italy, Texas 76651. The meeting will be held in an open house format from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

Italy will have a community wide garage sale this Saturday, August 16, 2014. The focal point of this event will be an opportunity for community members in and around Italy to set up mini-garage sale booths in Italy’s downtown Pavilion. Citizens are welcome to have garage sales at their home as well. It will be a great opportunity for some back to school clothes shopping as well as finding your next piece for that DIY Pinterest project you have been wanting to do.

Good Morning Texas, Channel 8 visiting Italy June 27th

Page McCoy Smith with WFAA Channel 8 Good Morning Texas will be here fearing the morning hours of June 27th. They are doing a series on Texas Cities with European names and Italy was chosen to participate. Page was out here on June 2nd and took some shots of City Hall, the Fire Station, Corley Bell Tower, the Blacksmith shop behind City Hall and also Uptown Café. Everyone come out to the Cargill Gallman Pavilion on the 27th @ 8:00 am and show your support for Italy, The Biggest Little Town in Texas.

Guns & Hoses Softball Tournament Vendor Application

The third annual Guns & Hoses Softball Tournament is just around the corner! This family-fun, community event has something for everyone and benefits Italy’s Shop With A Hero program. Vendor applications are being accepted now. Join in on the fun by setting up a booth during the event.

Cemetery clean up day planned

The Italy Cemetery Association is asking for the community to help clean up the cemetery. A work day is planned for Saturday, June 7th. Volunteers are needed with chain saws and weed eaters.

The Italy High School and Junior High School cheerleaders are sponsoring a Christmas movie night at the old gym this Saturday, December 21st. Movies, chili dogs, popcorn, hot chocolate and a bounce house will all be a part of the fun that will begin at 5:30pm.

Christmas service cancelled

The Ministerial Alliance Christmas service that was scheduled for Sunday night, December 8, at Mt. Gilead has been cancelled due to icy roads and bad weather.

Annual Community Christmas Service planned this Sunday

The Italy Ministerial Alliance invites everyone to the annual Community Christmas service this coming Sunday night, December 8th. The service begins at 6:30 pm at Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church. There will be a Festival of Choirs from six of the area churches and Pastor Preston Dixon will bring the Christmas message.

Seeking talent for Italy’s Christmas Festival and Parade

We are interested in having all performing groups from Italy participate in the entertainment for the Italy Christmas Festival and Parade. We are looking for bands, singers, cheerleading groups, dance groups, MIME groups, choirs, and others who have a talent for and desire to entertain the community at our wonderful festival on December 7th.

IHS Class of 1968 reunion set

The Italy High School Class of 1968 will hold their 45th class reunion on Saturday, October 26, 2013. The members will meet at Italy High School at 4:00 p.m. to tour the facility. The Rockett Ranch Café and Club in Milford held its first annual barbeque cook off last Saturday, Oct. 5. The turnout was less than expected. Speculation suggested the rain prediction could have been the reason or the 60% payout for prize money. It was decided next year would deliver an 80% payout and pray for better weather.

Community fun at Italy’s National Night Out

National Night Out downtown Italy at the Pavilion Tuesday night was quite the success! There were over 200 people there eating hotdogs, line dancing, visiting and just having a great time. Mayor Hobbs was even spotted dancing in the line dance!
