Epiphany Catholic Church received a $25,000 grant on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 from The Catholic Foundation. The funds were used for a just completed expansion of their parking lot. Thirty additional parking spaces, including two handicap spaces, were added.

The Ministerial Alliance Christmas service that was scheduled for Sunday night, December 8, at Mt. Gilead has been cancelled due to icy roads and bad weather.
The Italy Ministerial Alliance invites everyone to the annual Community Christmas service this coming Sunday night, December 8th. Pastor Lamar Jones has been the Youth Minister for the last five years at St. Luke African Methodist Episcopal Church in Waco. While under his leadership the youth group grew to about 60 kids, all active in singing in the choir and participating in the Junior Stewards program.

Because of the unusual way the weeks fall this month, the Italy Food Pantry will be open next Wednesday morning, October 16, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The Food Pantry is located on Hwy 77 between the barber shop and the Mexican food restaurant.

It was the trip of a lifetime for many of the 10 member team from Central Baptist Church in Italy. They spent 10 days in Athens, Greece, a mission endeavor that Pastor Joseph Barrett and his wife had taken several years earlier.

The youth of First Baptist Church of Italy were given the opportunity for “hands on” missions last week during their annual camp. For the first time, instead of going to another location out of town, the camp was held at the church here in Italy. This year’s theme was “Do Something.”

On Saturday, March 2, Mt. Gilead Baptist Church hosted its Entrance Ceremony. The church has opened its new doors and sanctuary and is ready for the business at hand. In the Bible, Mt. Gilead was the region east of the Jordan River and took a prominent place in the history of the Bible. (Gen. 31:25) It was considered a rugged mountain.

The second annual Men and Boys Community Chili Dinner took place at the Cornerstone on Wednesday night at 6:30 pm. Several churches throughout the town were represented. Family Fellowship Church, First Baptist Church of Italy, and Central Baptist Church all had church members attend the dinner. Murray Wainscott was in charge of putting it together and he did a great job.
The Central Baptist Prime Timers meal will not be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2012. It has been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at noon. The entree will be fried chicken. Saturday December 10th a benefit gospel concert was held in the cafeteria of Stafford Elementary to raise money for Camisha Monk and her son. Many friends and family members and church members from surrounding churches came out in support.
