Italy’s Community Center was the location for this year’s prom. The event was made possible by many contributors who the juniors very much appreciate.

On Tuesday, April 7th Italy High School Art Students competed in the Ellis County Youth Expo Creative Arts Contest. Forty-one students participated with a total of 78 works of art in the competition.

Meet Kelli Ballard, receptionist at Italy JHS/HS, Kelli is an Italy HS graduate; her three children currently attend Italy ISD. She is glad to answer any questions you may have regarding school business. If she doesn’t know the answer, she’ll find someone who does.
Angela Muirhead, Italy High’s campus secretary, makes sure the campus stays on track daily. She is here to serve administration, teachers, and students, and is glad to help any way she can.
Erica Miller, the counselor at Italy JHS/HS, wears many hats. From counseling to scheduling to coordinating many events, her determination to do her job well shows. She enjoys working with students and putting them on a track for success.
Lee Joffre, Italy’s secondary campus principal, is serving his fourth year as a Gladiator. He enjoys working with his staff and students whether it’s academically or supporting their extra-curricular activities.

Youth for Human Rights provides educators with curriculum covering the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Recently two Italy 8th grade students in Mr. Guidry’s class, Wesley Helms and Mikey South, completed the curriculum and received certificates for their accomplishments.
The 8th grade science class had the opportunity to link up with the International Space Station last week. The students were able to send photo requests during certain orbits to the astronauts. The students were studying weather so they were using a real time weather map while pin-pointing coordinates on the globe and requesting a photo from the ISS of the location. The students had a total of 250 photos taken.
Brilliance Dual Credit Scholarships are awarded to Ellis County residents currently in high school who plan to take courses at Navarro College during Fall and Spring semesters.
Italy’s home side is behind the scorer’s table; the visitors may sit opposite the scorer’s table.
The 2015 Italy ISD local scholarship packets have been handed out to seniors. Students need to read through the information packets; pay close attention to the requirements and deadlines of the scholarships.

The Italy National Honor Society, sponsored by Tina Richards, the Italy Junior High National Honor Society, sponsored by Casey Holden, and the Italy HS/JHS student council, sponsored by Vivian Moreland, held their annual canned food drive competition, and EVERYBODY WON, donating 540 cans of food to the Italy Food Pantry! The Pantry volunteers cannot thank you enough for the wonderful contribution you have made to the Italy Food Pantry.

The Italy Gladiator ColorGuard will have a Bake Sale on Saturday, November 22 from 10:00am to 3:00pm at the Texas Best Travel Plaza. Donations of baked goods are appreciated.
Senior yearbook ads must have a deposit in to Mrs. Eaglen by January 9th. A 50% deposit is required to hold your page and ALL pages must be completely paid for and the layout must be turned in by April 6th. Remember a full page is $125, half page is $70 and a quarter page is $45.
Hats off to the following Italy High School students. These 120 students are part of the 2014-2015 Academic Honor Roll List for the 2nd six weeks. (This is an increase from the previous grading period!) Congratulations to these students as well as their parents, teachers and administration. It takes a village!
On Veterans Day, the administrators, staff and students of Italy ISD showed their appreciation to local veterans by hosting a program to honor them.
Parents and community members— we know you’ll want to come out and support many of our seniors as we recognize their efforts throughout high school. Senior football players, cheerleaders, cross country participants, and band members will be recognized during this Friday night’s football game against Dallas Gateway. Recognition will take place on the football field at 7 p.m. before the game. We hope to see you there.
This next Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at 5:30 p.m., the qualifying students for this year’s NJHS will be inducted into the National Junior Honor Society. These students have shown scholarship, leadership, character, and service, and through an application process, have been selected by a faculty panel for membership.

The Italy High School Class of 2015 has designed a super stylish tshirt fit for any Gladiator fan. The shirt comes in both a long sleeve and short sleeve option and features a custom printed pricket sewn on the front. These shirts will be offered by special order for a limited time.
Italy High School students in grades in 9-12 will be attending the Navarro Career Expo tomorrow. Navarro College plans the Expo to provide career option information to high school students throughout the area. Italy High School has been participating in this event for three years and it has become part of the District & Campus Improvement Plans.
You may notice during lunch time that several senior students are going to local restaurants. These are students who have met a Gold Performance standard. One of the incentives for reaching Gold Performance standard is off-campus lunch.
In order to improve safety procedures at Italy Junior High and High School all students are required to wear a school issued identification card. This procedure was put into place to help teachers identify students who may not be assigned to one of their classes. Our visitors and employees are also required to wear an ID so we can identify all people who are permitted on campus.

As it stands now, the halftime ceremony planned for tonight’s Homecoming festivities will be held during halftime as is tradition. In the case of sprinkles &/or light rain this plan will remain.
Parade participants will need to start lining up at 1:30 in the Italy High School parking lot. Numbers will be handed out for each participant to display on their float/vehicle so everyone can just follow the number ahead of them.
