Hunter Hinz, age 13 and student at Italy Junior High, won first place on June 9, 2015, at the Texas State 4-H Round Up in the Intermediate Compound Aided division of the invitational archery contest. Over 4,000 4-Her’s gathered at Texas A&M University to compete in various qualifying and invitational contests for a wide variety of 4-H projects. This was the inaugural year for Texas 4-H to host an archery competition at State 4-H Round Up.

Per Italy ISD Athletic Director, David Weaver, the playoff game scheduled today will have a 6pm start time as opposed to the 7pm start time originally planned. As everyone is well aware, the weather in the northern counties of Texas has be dicey of late and caused this last minute change.

Faith Family, a charter school in Waxahachie forfeited their game to the Italy Lady Gladiators last night. It had been the second time the team had forfeited a district match to the Italy team. The Ladies are now 20 wins against only 4 losses for the year.

The Italy Lady Gladiators find themselves in first place, one game ahead of last year’s district champion Frost. Tuesday they traveled to Covington to complete the first round of district games. The Lady Gladiators remain undefeated in district.

We welcome all who wish to participate and strongly encourage any senior parent of an athlete to attend. Final IYAA Baseball/Softball Signups will be Saturday, February 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. inside the old Italy gym (George E. Scott Coliseum). The usual $65.00 registration fee is required along with completed signup form for each child.

The 2A Region II Area Playoff Game between the Italy Lady Gladiators and the Santo Lady Cats had 51 foul shots attempted and was tied on the scoreboard a total of 10 times before Santo pulled away in the final moments to advance.
