The first 2015-2016 IYAA Basketball Signups will be held tomorrow, November 21, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Upchurch Baseball Fields in Italy. Registration fee is $65.00. Forms Will Not be accepted without payment. First come first serve so reserve your roster spot quickly.
Attached are the District honors for the Lady Gladiator 2015 Volleyball season. These honors are not just for the sport but also for academics, I’m so proud of each and everyone of these young ladies. Please feel free to share the girls achievements with all. They worked hard and we appreciate all their hard work and dedication.
Local equestrians earned top honors in the Ellis County Equine Association Buckle Series horse shows. They were recently honored with buckles, bracelets and bridles for their achievements at the year-end awards banquet held at the J Bar C Cowboy Church in Palmer.

On Monday, October 26, the 2015 Italy lady Gladiators participated as a cross-country team at the Regional level for the first time in a decade. The daylong event took place at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie and consisted of teams from Region 2 in the 2AA-6AA divisions.
Gladiator Athletic Booster Club is inviting all supporters of the program to attend a meeting Monday, November 9, 2015 at 6:30pm in IHS Library. We will be discussing the concession stand for basketball and the Fall banquet we will be having this year for our Fall athletes. Please come in through front door. Hope to see everyone there.
The Italy Junior High football game is rescheduled for this evening at 6:30pm.
The JV will play Hillsboro immediately following the JH game here in Italy. These changes are being made to make sure we could get the games in prior to the expected rain tomorrow. The games are in Italy.

The first playoff game will be played against the Wolfe City Lady Wolves on Monday, November 2 at 8:30 PM at Kaufman High School in Kaufman.
Good luck to Italy’s Head Coach/AD David Weaver and the Gladiators who will be taking on Hubbard in Jaguar country tonight starting at 7:30 p.m. Both teams are unbeaten in district play so fan support is paramount! Italy comes off a key 34-27 win over Chilton.
The 2015 Italy Gladiator Cross Country team has advanced to regionals for the first time in many years. It has been a learning curve for Team Italy that managed to overcome all the ups and downs that can be associated with cross country running such as hills, pot holes, and cattle.
There will be a fan bus for Italy High School students who would like to attend the football game in Hubbard Friday. The bus will leave the football field at 6 on Friday. Permission slips will go home with high school students Tuesday and must be returned, to Mrs. Ballard, by the close of business on Wednesday. Students should pay close attention to the weather for Friday and dress appropriately.

This will be the Junior Varsity’s last game and a big game for the Varsity Lady Gladiators. I’m asking that the community come out and pack the Dome in Black and Gold!!!!!!! This is a huge game for the girls, so please support our Seniors in their last home game against Frost!
The Senior Lady Gladiator volleyball players will be congratulated on a job well done in volleyball throughout their years in high school on October 13, 2015 at 5:30 PM in the dome for senior night. Let’s pack the dome to make this a special night for the seniors! Afterward, please stay to yell for the Lady Gladiators as they defeat Garland-Alpha! We’re looking forward to seeing you all there!
The Italy High School Athletic Department will be hosting the annual Homecoming Bonfire Wednesday, September 30, behind the Jimmy Davis Memorial Field House, same as last year. The community is asked to start arriving at 7:30 p.m. and then ceremonial lighting of the bonfire will be around 8:30 p.m.
The Gladiator Athletic Booster Club has called a meeting for Wednesday September 23, 2015 at 7pm in HS Library. We will be discussing solutions to improve the program to make us even stronger. If you have any ideas or comments please feel free to join us. The Athletic Booster Club is always looking for volunteers to help make this club successful.

Academic Achievement Awards were awarded at the Hillsboro Unified Tae Kwon Do School at the June grading. For the past 19 years the Hillsboro Unified Tae Kwon Do School located at 125 W. Elm Hillsboro, Texas has awarded many students, who are excelled in both martial arts as well as academics with a 3 and 4 foot trophy.
The Italy ISD Administration Office will start selling season passes to the home football games beginning Monday, August 24, 2015. The first home game is Friday, August 28th. Passes will be $30.00 each.

The Italy Youth Athletic Association (IYAA) will be hosting its End-of-Season Party on Saturday, August 15, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Upchurch Ballpark. It will also be a great time to signup for football and cheerleading which starts at 5:00 p.m.

Italy Gladiator Football will mixup its Varsity and JV squads for an intersquad scrimmage this coming Saturday, August 8, starting at 9:00 a.m. to wrap up their first week of two-a-days. Members of the Shooting Sports 4-H Club of Ellis County competed at the Texas State 4-H Shooting Sports Games at the National Shooting Sports Complex in San Antonio, Texas, July 12-18. Leading the way for the Ellis County team was Hunter Hinz of Italy.
Coach Weaver would like to remind the community that we still have two camps to take advantage of during the summer. Football Camp is NEXT WEEK, and Volleyball Camp will be the week following. Softball Camp will be during Spring Break this year. It is not too late to sign up! Walk-ups are welcome, and we will take all paperwork and payments on first day of camp.

Hunter Hinz, age 13 and student at Italy Junior High, won first place on June 9, 2015, at the Texas State 4-H Round Up in the Intermediate Compound Aided division of the invitational archery contest. Over 4,000 4-Her’s gathered at Texas A&M University to compete in various qualifying and invitational contests for a wide variety of 4-H projects. This was the inaugural year for Texas 4-H to host an archery competition at State 4-H Round Up.

Car Wash TODAY to benefit the Italy Lady Gladiator Track Team members who will be participating at the State track meet in Austin. The Car Wash goes from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in front of the First Baptist Church of Italy.
