Every year Milford ISD honors the veterans with music, song and patriotic speeches. Every year it just keeps getting better. The auditorium was filled with silence as the band played the National Anthem.
Russell Clingenpeel (student) introduced the program by saying, “Milford ISD is proud to honor our veterans and those currently serving our country. The sacrifices made by you and your families are immeasurable and unforgettable. It is with great admiration and respect that we, the students, faculty and community show our appreciation and utmost respect to you on this honored day.”
Tapley Strange recited the President’s Veterans Day Proclamation and was followed up by the kindergarten and first grade classes singing When the Flag Goes By, waving their flags enthusiastically.
Speeches were given, Celebrating America’s Veterans by Taylor Falzerano, Remembering Our Veterans by Rachel Strange.
The 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade music classes sang America My Homeland with much vim and vigor, Eric Evans played Taps on his bugle, and the high school band played America the Beautiful.
To finish the the program the Tri-M Student Honor Guard ‘retired the colors’ by walking the flags back across the auditorium.
I got a chance to talk to one of the veterans in the audience, H. C. Macintyre, “I was in the World War II Marine Corp. I spent the majority of my time in Guam. We were on stand-by when they dropped the bomb. It was an honor to serve my country.”
Thank you veterans we appreciate you.
