The Royal Ambassadors of Central Baptist Church enjoyed a night of fellowship, fun and friendly competition at the annual R.A. Racers event on April 14, 2010. A total of 18 cars were entered in the race and there were approximately 75 people in attendance to cheer for their favorite car.
The boys are given a small block of wood and must come up with a design for their car. The R.A. leaders cut out the cars and weight them. Then the boys begin work sanding and painting each special project. Finally the wheels and axles are added. The finished car can weigh a maximum of 5 oz.
“The race has several spiritual applications that the boys can learn,” said Murrie Wainscott. “The track has guides that keep the car going in the right direction just as the Lord guides us in our lives to stay headed in the direction that He wants us to go.”
“A boy takes a plain block of wood and designs and shapes it into a unique creation, just as God created each of us. If a car doesn’t get any graphite on the axles, it doesn’t do what it is supposed to do which is to go fast. We need to apply God’s word to our lives to help us do what we are created to do.”
Race results were:

- 1st – Ty Beets
- 2nd – Noah Steinmetz
- 3rd – Rowdy Stamper
