The Bulldog faithful gathered Tuesday night inside the Milford School cafeteria to show their appreciation for everything the Milford athletic program accomplished during the 2008-2009 school year.
Everyone was invited to have a meal and visit with one another while watching a slide show presentation, created by Devin Green, that featured photos of all the teams in action throughout the seasons.
Coach Otis Carter thanked his wife Nancy, his fellow coaches and their spouses, his student assistants, the bus driver, the chain crew, the score keepers and the faculty. In fact, Coach Carter also showed appreciation to everone who helped including the parents who he credited with making the Milford athletic program possible.
Then the head coaches began to introduce all the different team members for each sport and handed out individual Certificates of Award to each player along with a handshake for jobs well done.
Individual All-District, All-Region, All-State and Academic All-State honors were presented as well.
Ashley Ross was named the Milford Bulldogs Female Athlete Of The Year and Derek Williams was awarded the Milford Bulldogs Male Athlete Of The Year.
And even though Milford doesn’t have a tennis court or a track on which to practice, that doesn’t seem to slow the Bulldogs down as many athletes earned district recognition as well.
Needless to say, the Milford Bulldogs’ school spirit is alive and well so if your scheduled to compete against Milford next year, good luck! Coach Carter, along with the rest of the coaching staff, has the Bulldogs ready to defend their backyard.
The sign welcoming travelers into Milford claims the city has 3 or 4 grouches living there. At the banquet, however, there were no grouches to be found as everyone was all smiles…even the babies didn’t cry.
Congratulations to all the student athletes on all their accomplishments. It won’t be long before the school will have to find room for another trophy case in the hallway.
