During the city council meeting on Monday night, Police Chief Cameron Beckham on behalf of the City recognized Italy resident, Greg Anderson, for his act of bravery while rendering aid to an accident victim. Beckham said Mr. Anderson risked his life to save a truck driver after he had an accident.

This past Saturday, T’keyah Pace competed in the UIL Region III 2A Cross Country meet at Sam Houston State University. At the meet, she qualified and advance to the STATE MEET!! She will run on November 12th.
This morning at Stafford Elementary the construction company hit an electric line that buried under the old foundation. We will be assessing the situation and notifying parents of any changes to our schedule.
Following an outstanding performance at the Lake Whitney Marching Invitational that included qualifying for a performance in the finals round, the Italy High School Gladiator Regiment Marching Band competed on Wednesday in the UIL Region 8 Marching Contest and received a 1st Division Superior rating. This caps off a very successful 2016 competitive season for the Gladiator Regiment.
IYAA Teams need your support. On Saturday, November 5th there will be a large garage sale, wiffle ball tournament and washer tournament all at Upchurch Ball Fields to help raise needed funds for the C – Team Football and B – Team Cheer to go to AT&T Stadium on Dec 11, 2016.

Let’s celebrate Red Ribbon Week 2016-2017
The Italy High School Gladiator Regiment Marching Band competed on Tuesday, October 18 at the Troy Invitational Marching Contest. The band performed very well, bringing home a 1st Division trophy.
The dedication of the Texas Historical Marker for the Shawnee Cattle Trail was held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the Pecan Springs Ranch. The ranch is located on L.R. Campbell Road outside of Italy and is owned by Ted and Nancy Paup, sixth generation Texans.
On Saturday, October 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. the ITALY POLICE DEPARTMENT, in association with IMPACT COMMUNITIES, which is an initiative of DRUG PREVENTION RESOURCES (www.dpri.com) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public its 12th opportunity in six years to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.
Carla Yvette Lambert was born on October 22, 1968 to Mr. Eddie and Mrs. Edna Struggs in Ennis, Texas. She excelled academically at Ennis High School, where she exceled in track and field. She graduated in 1987. Carla attended Navarro College in Corsicana where she graduated with her Associate’s Degree in 1989.
Italy ISD announced its policy today for providing free and reduced-price meals for children served under the attached current income eligibility guidelines. The Italy ISD administration office has a copy of the policy, which may be reviewed by anyone on request.
Stagecoach Cowboy Church, located at 356 FM 55 in Waxahachie, will host a Fall Festival and Auction on Saturday, October 29.
On September 30, 2016 at 8:30 pm, there was an incident at the City of Italy Upchurch Fields located at the 200 block of Dilworth Street, which involved a juvenile victim being stabbed in the upper torso area.
Mrs. Chambers is collecting baby pictures of each member of the senior class for the slide show. Waxahachie, Texas – Local law enforcement will host a Prescription Drug Take Back on October 22, 2016. Officers will be collecting unused and expired prescription and over-the-counter medications for appropriate disposal between the hours of 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. This program is a partnership of the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office, Waxahachie Police Department, Waxahachie ISD and IMPACT Waxahachie, an initiative of Drug Prevention Resources, Inc.
On 10/18/16 around 730am, a 911 call was made from a store clerk in reference to a possible aggravated kid-napping. The Exxon store clerk had told dispatchers that a female had made an outcry indicating that there was a man holding her a gunpoint against her will.

Hunter Hinz, freshman at Italy High School, was named the Texas State Champion at the National Rifle Association’s Youth Hunter Education Challenge. This event could be called the decathlon for outdoorsmen as it includes proficiency in archery, shotgun, muzzle loading, rifle, wildlife identification, hunting safety trail, orienteering and a hunter’s responsibility exam.
