Italy High School is hosting a parent information night with the Navarro College Dual Credit Coordinator. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend to get valuable information regarding dual credit as well as an opportunity to get many questions answered. The parent information night will be Thursday, May 26th at 6:30 p.m.
The Italy Lady Gladiators defeated the Riesel Lady Indians rather matter-of-factly on Thursday with a 13-1 game 1 win in the bi-district round of the 2016 Softball 2A Region 2 Playoffs hosted in Italy. Riesel responded two days later to win games 2 and 3, claiming the bi-district championship for the Lady Indians.

Senior Day: Italy seniors Britney Chambers, Cassidy Childers, Lillie Perry and Hannah Washington are recognized for their career-long efforts before their district matchup against visiting Covington.
The Cinco De Mayo fiesta celebration will be Friday, May 6th, 2016 from 6:00pm until 10:00pm. Vendor booths will be located at the Cargill-Gallman Pavilion, downtown Italy. Vendor forms for booths need to be turned in by May 2nd to get a good spot but we will still allow late comers.
Due to unforeseen circumstances for one of the play’s cast members, the one act play that was to be performed this evening has been postponed. Once it is rescheduled, it will be announced again. Thank you for understanding!
South Ellis County Water Supply Corporation’s 2015 Annual Members Meeting will be held on April 28, 2016, 6:00 PM at the South Ellis County Water Supply Corporation’s offices at 109 Main Street, Italy. This meeting will be immediately followed by April 2016 monthly meeting.
Our meeting this month is on a very popular topic “Backyard Chickens”. We have so many chicken farmers! It looks like we will have a good attendance. Please feel free to bring a chair if you like. We will have some chairs and some feed bags to sit upon.
Ellis County, Texas – Local law enforcement will host a Prescription Drug Take Back on April 30, 2016. Officers will be collecting unused and expired prescription and over-the-counter medications for appropriate disposal between the hours of 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.
Central Baptist Italy Student ministry will be selling sno cones to raise money for summer camp, Saturday April 30th from 2pm to 7pm at the Cornerstone building on 205 Main Street. Cost is $1 for small and $2 for large. Assortment of flavors and add-ins. All donations will be welcome!

Italy Gladiator Football senior Clayton Miller will be representing the old gold and white in the 2016 8th Annual FCA Victory Bowl All-Star Football Game scheduled for Saturday, June 11, at Waco, ISD – Kickoff at 6:30 p.m.

Italy Jr./Sr. High School’s Civil Air Patrol will be hosting a 5k color run on Saturday, May 21st, 2016. The monies raised for this event will go directly to the program which promotes Aerospace Education (STEM), Leadership, Self-Discipline, and Fitness.
The Lady Gladiators take care of Avalon at home 13-3 to sweep the Eagles in district play and will attempt to sweep Itasca this season, as well, with another home game tonight starting at 5:30 p.m.
Italy Gladiator Keith Davis II was named Offensive Player of the Year, Kendrick Norwood was named Co-Defensive Player of the Year, Christian Lightfoot was named Newcomer of the Year and head coach David Ervin was named Coach of the Year in District 12-2A.
The Gladiator Athletic Booster Club will be calling a meeting to discuss the details of the Spring Athletic Banquet. We are asking anyone interested in helping with this event to please join us. All senior parent athletes are invited as well to discuss decorating the dome. The meeting will be held Monday, April 18th at 6pm in the Italy High School Library.
The 6th Man of the Year district superlative honor went to Italy’s April Lusk while Emmy Cunningham and Brycelen Richards received 1st Team All-District. In total, 10 Lady Gladiators were recognized with 4 players making the Academic All-District list.
Please come out and help support our Italy High School Regiment Band Saturday April 16th from 6-8pm in the High School Cafeteria. We will be serving a Spaghetti Dinner with a silent and live auction! This past week, Italy High School’s FFA had 12 students participate at the Ellis County Youth Expo. These students spend a great deal of time and money taking care of and getting their animals ready for competition. Their hard work paid off.
This past Saturday, April 9, 2016, was Italy High School’s annual prom which was hosted by IHS’s junior class.
On Wednesday April 6, 2016, Italy ISD Art Program participated in the Ellis County Youth Expo Creative Arts contest. Thirty-four Italy High School students and nine Italy Middle School students competed. Italy ISD Art Department entered 84 works of art in the contest.
The Italy City Council will have a regular monthly meeting on Monday, April 11, 2016 in the Italy Boze Community Center at 161 W. Main Street, Italy. Meeting time is slated for 6pm.
The Dallas Zoo visits Stafford Elementary. Students & staff enjoy the informational presentation on the “Animal Kingdom.”
Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at the Ellis County Youth Expo, Family Consumer Science students Amber Hooker, Halee Turner, Lillie Perry, Lela Finley and Brooke DeBorde competed in cake decorating. The girls blew the judges away with their talent!

BHB Feed and Supply is having their Grand Opening on Saturday, April 9th, from 11am to 1 pm. There will be BBQ provided along with music, facepainting, vendor tables, drawings, and a bounce house. It will be a great time for family fun.
It’s time for the 27th Annual Ellis County Youth Expo! This year, the week of April 4-9, students from Ellis County will have the opportunity to put on display what hard work and dedication truly mean. Students from FFA, 4-H and FCCLA have been planning and preparing their projects for this important week for over a year, in some cases. Each of the exhibitors you will see this week, whether from the Creative Arts, Ag. Mechanics or the Livestock division have great pride and honor in the product they will present.
The Italy Gladiator Regiment Band will host its annual Spaghetti Dinner April 16th from 6pm-8pm in the High School Cafeteria.
The Italy Gladiator JV Baseball team will take on Avalon today, Thursday, March 24, starting at 2:30 p.m. in Avalon. A game between the Gladiator and Eagle Varsity squads will immediately follow the JV game.
The Italy Police Department Youth Police Academy is modeled after the Citizens Police Academy and is designed to give young people the opportunity to learn about the department and its operations and to demonstrate the benefits of law enforcement and community policing in our city.
Italy High School Assistant Principal Eric Janszen is currently working on a project to recognize former Italy High School valedictorians and salutatorians. He is looking for information from the following years: 1915-2008.
Approximately 140 students from Italy High School are participating in “The President’s Own” U.S. Marine Band’s “Sousa’s March Mania” competition which began recently.
Stafford Elementary students are urged to participate in this week’s STAAR Prep and Theme Week. Each day this week has a different clothing theme.

The Italy ISD Board of Trustees will have their monthly meeting on Monday, March 21, 2016 in the Italy High School cafeteria at 300 S. College Street, Italy. Meeting time is slated for 7pm.
Teen dating violence is similar to and can be as lethal as adult relationship violence. Approximately one in three girls is a victim of abuse from a dating partner. It includes hitting, yelling, threatening, name calling and other forms of verbal, sexual, emotional and physical abuse. These facts make it very important for parents to be aware of relationship abuse.
On February 27th, 59 students from the Hillsboro Unified Tae Kwon Do School located at 125 W Elm-Hillsboro, traveled to compete in an invitational tournament in Giddings, Texas.

The Italy Police Department partnered with IMPACT Communities, a program of Drug Prevention Resources to provide the citizens of Italy, Texas and surrounding communities an environmentally safe way to dispose of any expired or unused Prescription and Over-the-Counter medications. This includes pills, liquids, and pet medications, but excludes inhalers, syringes and sharps.
You and your neighbors are invited to bring your families to the Easter Sunrise Community Service to celebrate our glorious Savior’s resurrection at the Italy downtown pavilion. After the service, you are invited to stay for a full Easter breakfast provided by the Mt. Gilead members.

Congratulations to the Gladiator Regiment for their recent success at the Region 8 East zone UIL Concert and sight reading contest. The event was held on Wednesday, March 2 at Groesbeck High School and included thirty five bands from class 1A-4A.
This year’s Italy High School prom will be hosted at the Ellis County Event Center in Waxahachie. This beautiful facility will host the 2015-2016 prom on April 9, 2016. Tickets will be for sale from March 1, 2016 until April 1, 2016.
All 3rd grade thru 9th grade students are invited to attend softball camp during Spring Break at Italy High School. Monday, March 14 thru Thursday, March 17 from 10:00am-12:30am each day. Cost to attend is $25.

Attached is the Tournament schedule for the 2016 Brentwood Tournament held in Austin, Texas where the Lady Gladiator Softball team will be participating on March 11th and 12th.
There will be a brief band booster meeting on Tuesday March 8th @ 6:15pm in the band hall. Topics of discussion will be spring events and fundraising. We would love to have all the support we can get in making these events great for our IHS Band students!!!
The IYAA (Italy Youth Athletic Association) will be conducting Baseball / Softball Signups at Italy City Hall from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. until Friday, March 4, and Saturday, March 5. Also, players can be registered on Saturday, March 5, inside the Old Italy Gym from 10:00 am – 2:00 p.m during the basketball tournament.
